Criteria to Maintain the Entry Scholarship and Financial Aid Support

1. Purpose

This document outlines the criteria required for students to maintain their merit-based scholarships and financial aid support throughout their academic tenure.

2. Scope

This document applies to all full-time undergraduate students at VinUniversity who receive merit-based scholarships or financial aid. It details the requirements for maintaining these awards.

  • Merit-based Scholarships: Entry merit-based scholarships are awarded for the entire period of study and are not eligible for scholarship-level upgrades.
  • Need-based Financial Aid: Entry need-based financial aid is awarded for the entire duration of study. Refer to the current guidelines for financial aid application: Guidelines for Student Financial Support Request
  • Additional Financial Support: Students may apply for additional financial support from other sources. This will follow the guidelines or criteria specific to each type of support.

3. Criteria to maintain the entry merit-based scholarship and financial aid support

1 Merit-based Scholarships Full & 100% Renewal is contingent upon:

1.      Maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher in the academic year under evaluation (calculated as the average of the two main semesters: Fall and Spring).

2.      Maintain good disciplinary standing.

3.      Complete the E.X.C.E.L self-evaluation and meet with the Advisor to discuss the self-evaluation.

If the student does not meet the minimum requirement of academic performance, the two options will be implemented as below:

(a)   Automatic Downgrade (1 level – based on current scholarship scheme of the academic year) – Applied if the Academic Year GPA is between 0.0 and 2.4 (below good academic standing).

(b)  Maintain the scholarship with the condition – Applied if the Academic Year GPA is between 2.5 and below 3.2 (from good academic standing and above), applicable for Full and 100% scholarships.

The students will be granted an additional regular semester to improve their academic and E.X.C.E.L performance. The GPA and E.X.C.E.L performance at the point of re-assessment will be used for further consideration.

Note: Special cases may be reviewed by the Committee for consideration.

4 Vingroup Family Scholarship Adheres to the current policy in effect at the time of application. No requirements – automatic renewal

6 Special Academic Scholarship 5% No requirements – automatic renewal
7 Education Development Aid 35% No requirements – automatic renewal

Need-based Financial Aid From 50% Maintain the minimum CGPA 2.0 (Marginal) in the academic year under evaluation (calculated as the average of the two main semesters: Fall and Spring).

Complete the E.X.C.E.L self-evaluation and meet with the Advisor to discuss on the self-evaluation.
